Making sense as we make a difference
Collectively, students who entered in 2005 had suffered from 2,771 years of addiction and bondage. A number of them had spent over 130 years in prison. The cost of incarceration is conservatively $39,000 per year.
Over 6 million of your tax dollars were squandered in a failed effort to change these lives. Imagine not only the miracles of these last 15 years, but also the inherent treasure this outreach offers the community.
Beyond financial considerations and reduced crime, savings, how do we put a value on a life changed, a family restored or destiny recovered.
Thanks to YOU the miracle takes place every day at here. |
For more than a decade and a half, Long Island Teen Challenge has demonstrated a commitment to the community.
Our efforts target strategic needs including social services, substance abuse prevention, youth development, battling poverty, and facilitating life change. Along with food distribution, we provide: |
Treatment - 15 month residential program |
Intervention - Concerned counseling and community care |
Prevention - Rock the Block, Hoop Challenge, Drug Awareness
Teams on the streets, in the schools and at local businesses
|
For over 12 years, Long Island Teen Challenge has offered 15 months of FREE care to individuals with life-controlling problems. As a fully certified, credentialed affiliate of Teen Challenge International we utilize the treatment protocol whose success has been proven in 58 different countries for over 44 years. This track record of success that has baffled the medical community and amazed investigators makes our program a well-recognized resource to the courts, community, and concerned citizens. |

The Program: The young men and women enter Phase 1 to move from "at risk" surroundings, confront the opportunity to live drug-free and make basic life decisions in a structured environment. Teen Challenge offers not only environmental change and detox, but practical life skills to cope with the roots of their addiction. They complete 14 group studies, 8 Character studies and 8 personal studies in the academic division, job skills training in the vocational division and social interaction within 4 months. Following completion of these studies they are awarded a graduation certificate and advance to Phase II.
After completing the entire program the students are encouraged to commit 6 months to the program as EPT (Extended Training Program) where they receive interactive mentorship. |
